Ensembles

Eastview has always taken pride in its extra-curricular choral ensembles, which have consistently received positive recognition both locally and abroad.

Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 2:30-4:00pm, and consists of three sessions throughout the year:

Session 1: September - December

This session is open to all students at Eastview, and focuses on tradition choral as well as seasonal music. Performances include:

• The Eastview Remembrance Day assembly

• Concert(s) to promote the choir to incoming elementary school students

• The Eastview Music Winter Concert

• In some years, session 1 students are invited to travel to a music festival performance

Session 2: January - February

This session includes our chamber choir only, which is open to students enrolled in vocal music by audition or special invitation. This session is typically used as an extension of our work in class to prepare for a music festival or other special performance.

Session 3: March - May

This session is open to all students at Eastview, and focuses on contemporary music, including styles such as Pop, Broadway and movie themes. This session prepares members for the choir's final "Gala" performance, typically held in late May or early June.

Eastview is home to Simcoe County's only high school orchestra complete with a string section.

Orchestra rehearses from 2:30-4:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and runs from September to May. Performances include:

• Concert(s) to promote the choir to incoming elementary school students

• The Eastview Music Winter Concert

• The orchestra's final concert, "Coda", usually held in May

• In most years, the orchestra travels to a music festival performance.
